Nishedhagya : What is allowed? What is banned?

Nepal Government has issued a Nishedhagya/Curfew (निषेधाज्ञा) from the midnight of August 19, 2020 to August 26, 2020 (Bhadra 10, 2077).

Many of us have confusions and questions about this declaration.

What exactly is a Nishedhagya?
Simply put, its a term for a curfew. A law stating that everyone is to stay at their house when in effect.

This is due to the increasing number of COVID-19 positive cases and death toll in the nation. Several major cities of the country has already been in the state of lock-down in the past few days.

To make it easier to understand about the rules and regulation of this Nishedhagya by the government we have listed the following points:

1. During this period, it is forbidden to go out of the house except in emergencies.
2. In order to procure essential items like herbs, milk, food items, etc., it will be possible to shop for them by adopting safety measures.
   Operation of industries, businesses, factories, construction works, hotels, restaurants, etc. is prohibited.
3. In addition, all types of business except essential services and goods will not be allowed to operate.
4. All fairs, festivals, processions, gatherings, processions and all religious and cultural activities, except the traditional daily internal dance worship are prohibited.
5. All kinds of educational institutions, training centers, tuition centers, language classes, meetings, conferences, training, seminars, cinema halls, party palaces, entertainment, salons, beauty parlors, spas, swimming pools, gym, food, group sports, libraries, museums, zoos Etc. will not be available to operate.
6. All types of private and public passenger vehicles have been banned from operating in the district.
7. In case of much needed vehicles such as daily necessities, agricultural and livestock related work, banking and financial transactions, medicinal products, other health related items, drinking water, gas, garbage management, ambulance / hearse / fire engine, death rites. Necessary facilitation will be provided to the vehicles carrying persons, marriage service (only 7 persons), communication service, electricity service and other essential activities with photo identity card issued by the concerned body.
8. Similarly, in the case of those going abroad by air, those who have passport, visa, confirm air ticket will be facilitated in the case of vehicles going directly to the airport.
   
   The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has also urged not to run out of goods and not to buy too many goods following rumors.
